Ever feel like you’re caged inside other people’s expectations of you? Your parents already laid out your future for you, and you follow the never ending road. You race through the path only to find that no matter how fast or long you run, the road keeps going. You run and run without stopping, without noticing your surroundings, without slowing down to enjoy your life. You race against time, you race against pressure. Happiness is not even a word in your dictionary. If you keep running, you’ll eventually wear out. You’ll shut yourself down, shut others out. You become robotic. You become cold. Bitter. Confused. Angry. Somewhere along your journey, stop. Just stop. Catch your breath and look around you. For a moment forget what others expect of you. What do YOU want to do? You’re young so take advantage of that. Yes, you have to continue on that long and tiring road. Because I understand. You do not want to disappoint your parents, yourself. You want to prove to the world that you are capable and strong and the asphalt road is the way to show them. Well, fuck it. Show them, but at your own pace. Don’t destroy yourself along the way. You only have one life.
